Planned Activities
OTHER ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE Saturday IN OUR OTHER BUILDINGS
WITH HALF PRICE ADMISSION!
NJ Shipwreck Museum Activity: Mapping Shipwrecks
Ever wonder how shipwrecks are recorded and mapped? Archaeologists use everything from tape measures to photogrammetry. Try mapping a model shipwreck using “classical” methods. Participants will learn to use simple tools in a hands-on exercise as individuals or members of a team to create a drawing of the model shipwreck. No SCUBA gear necessary! (Building 9032)
Garden State Central Model Railroad Club: Make More Scenery
Did you enjoy making your piece of scenery? If you enjoyed that, add trees and additional scenic elements to your Diorama. At the GSC Model Train museum we will teach you how to make trees using natural materials and household products. In addition you will have the opportunity to choose a freight car and weather it to make it look more realistic when placed in your scene. (Building 9010)
Vintage Computer Federation: Welcome to the Commodore 64 Print Shop
Come print out a sign on a dot matrix printer and take it home, as well as a PDP-8 that can print out paper tape with your name on it. We have plenty of other hands-on vintage computers in the museum, including rare machines such as Xerox Star and Next Cube. (Building 9010)
Electronic Warfare Exhibit: High Tech in Times of War
The “Association of Old Crows” (AOC) will be showing equipment from the U.S. Army and Camp Evans currently in use by NATO in Eastern Europe to support the Ukrainian people. (Building 9032)
Computer Deconstruction Laboratory (CDL):
From Text to Teletype and Intro to Soldering (for age 12 and up)
(Building 9059)
InfoAge Space Exploration Center: Bottle Rockets
Come prep and launch a plastic soda bottle into “space” using only water and pressure as fuel! And while you’re at ISEC… details to follow. (ISEC Building at 2300 Marconi Road)
